Marília Mendonça was a Brazilian singer and songwriter who gained immense popularity in Brazil and worldwide for her music in the sertanejo genre, which is a form of Brazilian country music. She was born on July 22, 1995, in Cristianópolis, Goiás, Brazil, and tragically passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 26 in a plane crash along with four other people.


Mendonça began her career as a songwriter, composing songs for renowned Brazilian artists such as Henrique & Juliano, Jorge & Mateus, and Wesley Safadão. She later decided to become a singer herself and released her first album, "Marília Mendonça: Ao Vivo," in 2016. The album became a huge success, selling over 200,000 copies and earning her a Gold certification in Brazil. Her subsequent albums, "Realidade" (2017) and "Todos os Cantos" (2019), were also very successful, with the latter winning the Latin Grammy Award for Best Sertanejo Album in 2020.
